I'm going to say this is 4。5 stars rounded up to 5 only because I wish it were a board book。 The illustrations are absolutely beautiful but the text is so short, and the content is probably more for a toddler, that I would have loved for it to be a board book instead of a thin paperback。 I hope the author considers submitting it to a few publishers instead of just self publishing。 I'd love to see this book more widespread。 Note to readers: consider replacing the word "Nursies" with whatever you I'm going to say this is 4。5 stars rounded up to 5 only because I wish it were a board book。 The illustrations are absolutely beautiful but the text is so short, and the content is probably more for a toddler, that I would have loved for it to be a board book instead of a thin paperback。 I hope the author considers submitting it to a few publishers instead of just self publishing。 I'd love to see this book more widespread。 Note to readers: consider replacing the word "Nursies" with whatever you call breastmilk。 When reading, I replaced the word with "mama milk" which is what I refer to it for my son Forrest and his head kinda perked up like "hmm" and he paid attention to the story - so did my older daughter。 Precious! 。。。more

Bought this to help my daughter come off the boob, It was beautifully written and helped herr (aged 2) to understand that it was not a bad thing we were stopping。 I still have the book on my shelves

We read this book as "milk when the sun shines" (or "muck" as Lily calls it)。I think reading it for quite a while before night weaning did help Lily (and even me!) with the idea。 Night feeding is not an easy thing to give up, but I knew when I was ready, even if she wasn't quite。The book has beautiful watercolor illustrations。 That is one happy kid at the end getting boob once the sun is up。 Lily likes to look at that page。We don't have much sun in the Pacific Northwest in the winter--I use a co We read this book as "milk when the sun shines" (or "muck" as Lily calls it)。I think reading it for quite a while before night weaning did help Lily (and even me!) with the idea。 Night feeding is not an easy thing to give up, but I knew when I was ready, even if she wasn't quite。The book has beautiful watercolor illustrations。 That is one happy kid at the end getting boob once the sun is up。 Lily likes to look at that page。We don't have much sun in the Pacific Northwest in the winter--I use a color-changing light to mark morning instead--but the book still helped prepare Lily for the concept, which was invaluable。 。。。more

Really helped with night weaning my toddler。

This book basically single-handedly night weaned my two year old。 He loved the story and asked for it daily, and then repeated the title when Mama said no more nursies before bed or during the night。 He was quick to point out the sun rising in the morning, though! I loved that the family cosleeps and almost everything about this book fit into our lifestyle。 The pictures are gorgeous。 The only downfall, as others have pointed out, is it is a bit flimsy but I guess the intended demographic is smal This book basically single-handedly night weaned my two year old。 He loved the story and asked for it daily, and then repeated the title when Mama said no more nursies before bed or during the night。 He was quick to point out the sun rising in the morning, though! My biggest problem with this book (and the reason I had to return it) is that it's printed on incredibly flimsy paper which will not stand up to a toddler。 Unfortunate because it's very cute! Excellent book to facilitate night weaning for a toddler。 We started reading the book two weeks before I planned to begin night weaning my 18 month old。 It’s helped him deal emotionally with this big change and given us tools on how to best communicate with him。 Simple and beautiful pictures。

There are far too few books to help toddlers deal with the more "countercultural" transitions -- while potty training and crib-to-big beds and becoming an older sibling books abound, it's incredibly difficult to find books about weaning an older child or moving from the family bed to a separate sleep space, probably because the stigma surrounding these parenting choices is large enough to make publishers believe there aren't many of us "out there" as a market。This is one of the few books that do There are far too few books to help toddlers deal with the more "countercultural" transitions -- while potty training and crib-to-big beds and becoming an older sibling books abound, it's incredibly difficult to find books about weaning an older child or moving from the family bed to a separate sleep space, probably because the stigma surrounding these parenting choices is large enough to make publishers believe there aren't many of us "out there" as a market。This is one of the few books that does exist in that gap, and it appears to have been self-published。 However, the quality is superb, with the gorgeous illustrations being its biggest selling point。 The text is warm and loving, but a bit to sparse for my tastes -- I didn't like that it never mentions the father even though he is pictured (I think I'll add a line about him when I read it aloud the next time) or that it assumes a co-sleeping arrangement。 Still, it exists, which is a good first step!! Plus, it includes a kitty, as all good children's books should。 。。。more

This book was an integral part of my successful (and quick!) night weaning experience。 I got it, read it to the 19 month old 3-4 times a day for a week or so, then night weaned him。 He totally understood that milky juice was no longer available at night, and within a night or two, he quit asking completely。 It's been two weeks now, and he's slept through the night twice, for the first time in his life!!!Seriously, if you are night weaning a toddler, get this book。 You won't regret it。 This book was an integral part of my successful (and quick!) night weaning experience。 I got it, read it to the 19 month old 3-4 times a day for a week or so, then night weaned him。 He totally understood that milky juice was no longer available at night, and within a night or two, he quit asking completely。 It's been two weeks now, and he's slept through the night twice, for the first time in his life!!!Seriously, if you are night weaning a toddler, get this book。 You won't regret it。 。。。more

Nursies When The Sun Shines peut se traduire par « Téter quand le soleil est levé »。 C’est un livre qui aide les enfants allaités et leurs parents à aborder le sevrage nocturne。Un enfant de sexe indéterminé se couche dans le lit familial (en cododo, donc) quand la nuit tombe。 Sa maman lui explique que la nuit, on dort。 Bébé dort, Maman dort, et les seins de Maman dorment aussi。 Si jamais Bébé venait à se réveiller, et qu’il fait noir dehors, alors c’est encore la nuit。 Et la nuit, on dort。 Maman Nursies When The Sun Shines peut se traduire par « Téter quand le soleil est levé »。 C’est un livre qui aide les enfants allaités et leurs parents à aborder le sevrage nocturne。Un enfant de sexe indéterminé se couche dans le lit familial (en cododo, donc) quand la nuit tombe。 Sa maman lui explique que la nuit, on dort。 Bébé dort, Maman dort, et les seins de Maman dorment aussi。 Si jamais Bébé venait à se réveiller, et qu’il fait noir dehors, alors c’est encore la nuit。 Et la nuit, on dort。 Maman aidera Bébé à se rendormir en le calinant。 Quand le soleil se lève, alors il est l’heure de se réveiller, et de prendre sa tétée du matin。Un très bel album, avec un texte simple mais compréhensible, et des dessins magnifiques。 Le but est donc d’amener la notion de sevrage nocturne (c’est à dire de ne plus prendre le sein pendant la nuit) aux enfants allaités。 Tout cela est fait de manière douce, sans brusquerie, sans jugement。 Dans le respect de l’enfant。On amène une nouvelle situation, on l’explique, et on donne une alternative (faire un calin)。 Des repères clairs sont donnés à l’enfant: la nuit, il fait noir, le jour, il fait clair。 La nuit on dort, le jour on est actif et on peut téter。 La bienveillance est de mise à 100% dans ce livre。A la fin, l’auteure partage quelques trucs et astuces pour utiliser ce livre dans l’optique du sevrage nocturne。Il existe plusieurs livres en anglais dédiés au thème du sevrage nocturne, et j’ai choisi celui-ci pour ses illustrations douces, presque féériques。 Le livre est court, donc l’enfant ne perd pas le fil, et la couverture est toute veloutée。Ma fille de 20 mois (un an trois quart, pour ceux qui ne sont pas parents!) a tout de suite voulu le lire plusieurs fois, et je crois qu’elle commence à intégrer les notions développées。 Un petit point négatif: le papa, présent sur les illustrations, n’est pas du tout mentionné dans le texte (ainsi que le chat 😉 )。 Du coup je le rajoute à la lecture, car je trouve que c’est important。 Je dis « C’est la nuit, on dort。 Bébé dort, Maman dort, Papa dort, le chat dort, et les boobies aussi »。 Comme ça, tout le monde y est!https://labibliothequedesev。wordpress。。。 。。。more

If you are in the very specific niche of being a cosleeping, breastfeeding family wanting to night wean your toddler, this book is for you。 It was easy enough to substitute our word for Mama's milk in for nursies, and I also found myself adding in what the Daddy was doing (he's shown in bed and falling asleep, etc。 but is not really referred to)。 The book is softcover。 The illustrations are really beautiful and it's a pleasant read。 I wasn't sure it would help in our quest to stop our girl's nig If you are in the very specific niche of being a cosleeping, breastfeeding family wanting to night wean your toddler, this book is for you。 It was easy enough to substitute our word for Mama's milk in for nursies, and I also found myself adding in what the Daddy was doing (he's shown in bed and falling asleep, etc。 but is not really referred to)。 The book is softcover。 The illustrations are really beautiful and it's a pleasant read。 I wasn't sure it would help in our quest to stop our girl's night wakings to nurse。 However, after a few days where we read this book, our little one stirred in the night and I heard her say: milk。。。 sun shine。。。 before GOING BACK TO SLEEP WITHOUT NURSING。 I'm not sure that it was this book alone that did it, but it definitely seemed to help her get the idea of waiting until morning to nurse, and for that I am extremely thankful。 Very glad we got this one even if it has limited appeal and use。 。。。more

I really like this and am hoping it will work well for night weaning my toddler。 She really seems to like it and wants to talk about the story。 So hopefully it'll make it a little smoother transition。 I really like this and am hoping it will work well for night weaning my toddler。 She really seems to like it and wants to talk about the story。 So hopefully it'll make it a little smoother transition。 。。。more

Beautiful illustrations and just the right pacing for a toddler。 Someone please make this into a board book!

A simple book to help mothers night wean their toddler。 An unnamed mother sings to her young one about when it is appropriate for "nursies"。Without the context of the back, the term "nursies" is confusing。 It is used like a proper noun, with no explanation, and only a single picture at the end displays what it is。 The sentence structure is a simple lullaby format, so the lack of a straightforward description is understandable。 However the confusion could have easily been avoided by bringing that A simple book to help mothers night wean their toddler。 An unnamed mother sings to her young one about when it is appropriate for "nursies"。Without the context of the back, the term "nursies" is confusing。 It is used like a proper noun, with no explanation, and only a single picture at the end displays what it is。 The sentence structure is a simple lullaby format, so the lack of a straightforward description is understandable。 However the confusion could have easily been avoided by bringing that one illustration to the beginning。Each image focuses on the family bond, especially the one with the mother who is narrating。 A soft, dreamy touch from watercolours compliments the atmosphere of sleep and love。In the back, the author includes detailed suggestions on how to night wean。 。。。more
